Motorbike rental Medan was the start of an unforgettable adventure with Idriss Mall from Réunion. He came to North Sumatra to explore Lake Toba by motorcycle.. Idriss travelled with a local guide for eight days.
The journey took him through mountains, waterfalls, villages and hot springs. He also discovered local coffee shops and beautiful roads around Lake Toba.
Idriss was not looking for a typical holiday.
He wanted to experience North Sumatra from the road, meet local people, discover places beyond the usual tourist routes and enjoy the freedom of travelling by motorbike.

That was exactly what we set out to do.
From Medan, the journey took us through Berastagi, Sipiso-Piso, Paropo, Samosir, Pangururan, Doloksanggul, Balige, Parapat and Sidamanik before we finally returned to Medan.
It was an eight-day and seven-night adventure.
But more than the number of days, it was the experiences along the way that made this journey special.
Starting Our Motorbike Rental Medan Adventure
Idriss arrived in Medan ready for a different kind of North Sumatra experience.
Before leaving Medan, we explored the city and prepared for the journey.
We checked the motorcycle and discussed the route. Everything was ready for the road ahead.
For us, good motorbike rental Medan service is not only about handing over a motorcycle.
It is also about helping travellers feel comfortable before they start a long journey.
Once everything was ready, we left Medan and headed towards Berastagi.
The busy streets of the city slowly disappeared behind us.
The road began climbing into the highlands. The air became cooler, and the scenery changed from urban streets to green mountains and countryside.
The adventure had officially begun.
Leaving Medan for Berastagi by Motorbike
Our first major stop was Sikulikap Waterfall.
After riding from Medan, the waterfall was a perfect place to slow down and enjoy the fresh mountain air.
The surrounding forest was green and peaceful.
From Sikulikap, we continued towards Pariban Hot Spring.
After spending some time relaxing there, we continued through the Berastagi highlands.
One of the highlights was the view towards Mount Sinabung.
For Idriss, the landscape was already very different from what he had seen in Medan.
The combination of mountain roads, cool weather and volcanic scenery made the ride exciting.
Eventually, we reached Ulu Lau, where we stayed for the night.
It was a good place to rest before continuing deeper into the Lake Toba region.
Motorbike Touring from Berastagi to Sipiso-Piso
The next morning, we continued our motorbike touring adventure towards Sipiso-Piso.
We first visited Wisata Indah Sippan before continuing towards the famous Sipiso-Piso Waterfall.
Sipiso-Piso is one of the most impressive waterfalls in North Sumatra.
From the viewpoint, the waterfall drops dramatically into the valley below.
The surrounding landscape is just as impressive.
After enjoying the scenery, we stopped for lunch at Vhivhi Resto.
Then we continued towards Paropo.
Along the way, we made one of the simplest but most enjoyable stops of the trip.
We stopped at Sanja Coffee and took some time to relax.
This is one of the advantages of travelling by motorcycle.
There is no need to rush from one destination to another.
A beautiful view gives us a reason to stop and enjoy the scenery. Along the way, a good coffee shop gives us a chance to take a break and relax. Even better, an interesting road can become an unexpected part of the adventure.
That freedom is one of the reasons motorbike rental in Medan is popular with travellers who want to explore North Sumatra independently.
By the afternoon, we arrived in Paropo and stayed at Hotel Cendrawasih Hutarakyat.
Discovering Lake Toba by Motorbike
The following morning started with another coffee at Sanja Coffee.
From Paropo, we continued towards Efrata Waterfall.
The roads became increasingly scenic as we moved closer to Lake Toba.
After enjoying Efrata Waterfall, we continued towards Sibea-Bea Hills.
The landscape opened up in front of us.
Lake Toba appeared between the mountains, creating one of the most memorable views of the journey.
We continued towards Holbung Hills.
This was one of those places where we naturally stayed longer than expected.
There was no reason to hurry.
We enjoyed the view, took photographs and talked about the journey.

For Idriss, travelling by motorcycle was very different from sitting inside a tour vehicle.
The road itself became part of the experience.
Every turn offered something different.
Around one corner, we might find a mountain rising above the road. Further ahead, a quiet village could appear between the hills. At other times, the road would simply open up to a peaceful view of Lake Toba in the distance.
After exploring Holbung Hills, we continued towards Pagar Batu for the night.
Exploring Samosir Island by Motorbike
Samosir was one of the most memorable parts of the journey.
The island has its own atmosphere.
The roads pass through traditional villages, green hills and viewpoints overlooking Lake Toba.
We crossed Tano Ponggol Bridge and continued towards Batu Passa and Huta Siallagan.
Huta Siallagan gave Idriss an opportunity to learn more about Batak culture and local history.
Having a local guide made the experience more meaningful.
Instead of simply taking photographs and leaving, we could explain the places we visited and share stories about the local culture.
From Huta Siallagan, we continued towards Lake Aek Natonang.
The surroundings became quieter.
The roads were less busy, and the scenery felt increasingly remote.
We then continued to Sigaratung Waterfall before heading towards the 360° Samosir viewpoint.
The view was spectacular.
Lake Toba stretched across the landscape, surrounded by mountains.
It was one of those moments when we simply stopped talking for a while and enjoyed the view.
Later, we continued towards Aek Rangat Hot Spring.
After several hours on the motorcycle, relaxing in the hot spring was exactly what we needed.
Before finishing the journey, we stopped at Huta Radja Coffee Shop.
Another coffee. another conversation and Another beautiful memory.
That evening, we stayed at Hisar’s Guest House.
Motorbike Touring Beyond the Usual Lake Toba Route
The journey continued towards areas that many travellers may not include in a typical Lake Toba itinerary.
We passed through Desa Singkam and continued towards Geosite Sipinsur.
Sipinsur gave us another beautiful perspective of Lake Toba.
The landscape looked different from the views we had seen around Samosir.
This is what makes a Lake Toba motorbike tour so interesting.
Lake Toba is enormous.
There is much more to see than a few famous viewpoints.
The roads connect mountains, villages, waterfalls, farms and small communities.
With a motorcycle, travellers have more freedom to experience these places.
After Sipinsur, we continued towards Tarutung.
We stopped at a local hot spring before continuing towards Balige.
By the time we arrived at Lago Hotel & Resto Balige, we were ready to rest.
From Balige to Ponot Waterfall by Motorbike
The next part of the journey took us towards Ponot Waterfall. the highest waterfall in indonesia
The ride itself was already enjoyable.
We passed through local communities and mountain landscapes while the scenery continued to change around us.
Then we reached Ponot Waterfall.
Ponot Waterfall was another reminder of North Sumatra’s natural beauty. Some of the best places are away from the main tourist routes.

After spending some time there, we continued towards Bukit Senyum.
Eventually, we reached Parapat.
After several days of riding, Parapat was a perfect place to slow down.
We spent the evening beside Lake Toba and stayed at Di Pandu Lakeside Parapat.
The atmosphere was peaceful.
The lake was calm.
And after a long day on the road, it was exactly what we needed.
Motorbike Rental Medan and the Green Roads of Sidamanik
Our journey was not finished yet.
We still had Sidamanik to explore.
The road towards Sidamanik offered a completely different landscape.
Instead of dramatic lake views, we found ourselves surrounded by green tea plantations.
The Sidamanik Tea Plantation was beautiful.
Rows of tea plants covered the hills, creating a peaceful landscape.
We stopped to enjoy the view and take photographs before continuing towards Bah Damanik.
The natural spring was another relaxing stop.
After spending some time there, we began our journey back towards Berastagi.
We returned to Ulu Lau, the same area where we had stayed earlier in the trip.
It felt like coming full circle.
The journey had taken us through so many different landscapes, yet we were now approaching the place where we had previously rested.
Returning to Medan After an Unforgettable Motorbike Tour
The following morning was much more relaxed.
We had breakfast before stopping at Lavenia Coffee for teh tarik.
After so many days on the road, it was nice to sit down and talk about everything we had experienced.
Before leaving the highlands, we made one final stop at Pariban Hot Spring.
Then we started the final ride towards Medan.
The mountains slowly disappeared behind us.
The roads became busier.
The cool highland air gradually gave way to the warmer atmosphere of the city.
Eventually, we arrived back in Medan.
Eight days earlier, Idriss had started the journey with curiosity.
Now he was returning with memories of waterfalls, mountain roads, Batak villages, hot springs, coffee shops, tea plantations and the enormous landscapes surrounding Lake Toba.
More Than Just Motorbike Rental in Medan
For us, this journey was more than simply providing a motorcycle.
This is what we love about motorbike rental Medan.
A traveller can rent a motorcycle and explore independently.
However, having a local guide can make a long journey easier and more enjoyable.
A guide can help with navigation, route planning, local destinations and unexpected situations along the way.
More importantly, travelling with someone who knows the area allows visitors to experience North Sumatra beyond the usual tourist stops.
A small local coffee shop can become an unexpected highlight along the way. A quiet road through a village may lead to a completely different experience. Even a waterfall that was never part of the original plan can become one of the most memorable stops of the journey.
That is the beauty of motorbike touring in North Sumatra.
The destination is important.
But the road between the destinations can be just as memorable.
Idriss’s Lake Toba Motorbike Journey from Réunion
For Idriss, coming from Réunion, this was not simply a trip to see Lake Toba.
It was an opportunity to experience North Sumatra from a completely different perspective.
From the seat of a motorcycle, Idriss experienced North Sumatra in a completely different way. The journey took him through winding mountain roads, traditional Batak villages, waterfalls and natural hot springs. Along the way, he enjoyed local coffee and took in the spectacular scenery surrounding Lake Toba.

Samosir became another memorable part of the adventure, followed by the landscapes of Balige and Parapat. Near the end of the journey, the green tea plantations of Sidamanik offered a peaceful change of scenery before the return to Medan.
Most importantly, he had the freedom to enjoy the journey at his own pace.
For us, it was a pleasure to accompany him throughout the adventure.
